Introducing The Younger Generation To The World Of Theatre And Stage Play

In this day and age, people have a lot of ways to entertain themselves. Ten years ago, we buy our tickets to watch big blockbuster movies at the cinema. Now, with our television sets, we can watch a wide array of films and series, thanks to streaming media platforms such as Netflix. As movies and TV shows are now the two main sources of entertainment of the public, especially the younger generation, most of us tend to forget that theatre and stage plays still exist, and they can still provide thrill and enjoyment to the audience like they always do.

For the younger millennials and the Generation Z people, there is quite a challenge to introduce them to theatre. Of course, there are a few of them who can appreciate theatre plays even at a young age, perhaps due to the influence of the people around them, for those who are contented with watching their favorite series on Netflix, theatre is off the table. Sadly, this is the reality that we need to face, but there is hope that theatre will still linger on in the generations to come. All we need to do is to lure the younger generation into the grandeur of theatre and stage plays.

Expose Them To Iconic Performances Of Theatre And Stage Actors

Each one of us is given with an eye and ear for exceptional talent. We just cannot turn our backs on those people who can offer us a great deal of entertainment through their God-given gifts. For us to get the younger generation to like theatre, we must show them what they are missing out by playing some of the historic performances in theatre, such as the climax scene in The Phantom Of The Opera or the marvelous musical production number in Cats.

Once they come to know about the talented theatre actors and actresses behind these performances, the younger audience will be the ones to research about them and probably watch similar performances. Little by little, we are getting them hooked into theatre! Don’t be surprised if one day, the young folks will be the one asking us to buy tickets for an upcoming theatre production. In this case, we need to remind them about the theatre etiquettes so that everybody can enjoy the performance.

Why Not Get The Children To Try Out Acting In Mini Theatre Plays?

Another great idea is to enroll the children into these summer vacation workshops where they can explore their talents as potential theatre stars in the future. Once they have the grasp in acting in a theatre play, they will appreciate more about the art and develop their enthusiast towards theatre and stage plays.
