Getting the Most Exposure for Your Theatrical Play

So… you have an upcoming theatrical play and want as much people as possible to reach it. In this regard, promotion will do a big help on exposing it to great audience. However, you already know that doing a marketing and promotion is what needed to attract the market that you seek but the question is, how you would do it?

One of the simplest yet very efficient ways of doing this is by putting a short trailer to tease your viewers. You have experts in sounds and lighting and you have a professional and eager cast. Thus, take advantage of your strengths by creating a slick trailer that will excite people of your upcoming production. As for the trailer though, it does not have to be cinema-like quality and does not have to be grandiose of a budget. Rather, make it exciting, shareable and entertaining.

Playing your budget just right and putting some creativity to it, you will be able to squeeze in great ideas in a 1 minute to 1 minute 30 seconds trailer.

What is the Formula for an Effective Trailer?

We have learnt that you can tell your viewers what they can see in the play in just a max of 90-second vid. The thing is, how you can achieve this?

First of all, you can do so by putting action-packed clips straight from dress rehearsals, athletic dance sequence or even fight scenes. If you wanted to, you can perform a quick Q & A with the director, cast and other crews of the entire production.

Let them talk about the reasons why people should watch the production and what exciting things they should be excited about it.

Make Sure to Get People’s Reaction

While doing the trailer and teasing people of your prod, make sure that you get opinion and reaction clips from your viewers. Do this at the first show or during previews while watching, while they are with their social media during intermission or perhaps, as the show ends.

The footage of queues and busy crowds inside the theater can push the sales and public interests of people in watching the production. And while doing online promotion is better, make sure that you have the best printer for your small business in printing posters, flyers to get in touch with your market on a personal level.
