How Theater Artists Stay Healthy

If you are a theater arts fanatic, one who has not failed to watch Les Miserables, the Phantom of the Opera or the Carole King musical, you may have noticed how these theater artists take care of themselves and looking great on stage. They look radiant and beaming with energy.

I am among the crowd who wonder the same thing. I watched Alladin at the Prince Edward Theater. Among the other things that struck me during the play is the way Princess Jasmin portrayed the role. The performance had been splendid and Princess Jasmin looked totally great in her role. Well, Aladin is good and we all know that. But Princess Jasmin makes me wonder if she had microblading or if she had botox or some kind of a facelift to enhance her glowing beautiful face.

After the show, I thought what do theater artist like Princess Jasmin do to look great? So I did my own little research. While I focused on Princess Jasmin on the last show I watched. My little research went to Broadway looking for answers on how these actors and actresses manage to look great in the midst of all their hectic schedule.

Alex Brightman of School of Rock

“Almost all of the time in an artists’ day are carried out pondering about the show. One has to look good, physically and mentally. “

Alex treats his body cautiously. He reminds himself that he can’t get sick. He is always on guard to prevent from getting sick so he does drink a lot of water and grapefruit juice.

Andrus Nichols of Sense and Sensibility

Andrus Nichols tries to keep himself as strong and healthy as he can. He eats a lot of leafy greens and a shot of apple cider vinegar a day. He manages everyday sticking to the norms of being healthy as he can.

Beth Nicely from Something Rotten

“An artist will have to be stronger than the play or else the risk of hurting yourself is high.”

Beth Nicely does 14 workouts per week to make her physically prepared for at least eight shows. She is indeed a hardcore, taking physical training as a preventive measure to get her ready physically.

A balanced and healthy body is essential for stage artists, specifically on Broadway in which 8 shows in every 7 weeks are common, and variances in weather conditions present a unique task. Also, it appears that most performers carry with them a particular drink that actually works to keep them strong and even healthy. Let’s explore further.
