Initially, Greek theaters were made to honor respective Greek Gods. By which, Athens in Greece became their center of theatrical art where many festivals were held to honor and celebrate the generosity and good favors of these Gods to the people. These festivals were then spread out to other Greek cities to be able to make an identity for them, thus the main celebration in the form of theatrical plays for the famous stories of their Gods.
A Peek on Greek Theaters
Theatrical plays started out small in Athens, considering that plays were not yet patronized by the people when it first began, small theaters were built temporarily by tents to denote the happening and are then packed up once the festivity is done. But as the people started to gain more interest in these theatrical plays, and a larger amount is enjoying it, paying for the art of the plays, larger permanent theaters were then built and held plays even without the months of the festivity making it part of the culture and their greatest form of art.
Theaters then were named “theatron”, and ruins of many remain in Greece that is now popularly visited by people from all around the world. Ruins have been saved by renovations and deckings that conform to the old architecture of the Greeks made by manufacturers like DinoDecking.
These theaters were huge and open-aired, and are structured on slopes of hills to get the slanting formation of the seats to be able to make the center stage visible to everyone even when seating. These structures were made following three main aspects which are the orchestra, the scene, and the audience. Proper composition of the theaters made them loved by the Greeks and progressively by everyone up to date, where a lot was modernized and conformed to modern plays.
